Walkers has a vacant position for a legal practice manager.  We have an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for the spot-on candidate.

Remuneration for the position will be market related and influenced by the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.  The legal practice manager will report to the board of directors.

The position includes responsibility for:

  • – financial administration, including preparation of income statements, trial balances, and monthly management accounts;
  • – payroll administration and management, including PAYE, UIF, SDL and leave;
  • – banking, including trust account administration
  • – information technology
  • – human resources management
  • – administration and compliance, including SARS (income tax and VAT)
  • – premises management
  • – managing the firm’s audit and auditor
  • – B-BBEE status monitoring
  • – preparation of client statements and collections
  • – preparing monthly debtors’ age analysis
  • – ad hoc queries from clients and staff
  • – computer literacy (standard and specialist software)

Attributes to be the successful applicant include:

  • – an accounting qualification
  • – preference will be given to applicants with a BCom (or equivalent) degree and that have completed articles with a reputable firm
  • – at least 5 years’ experience as a financial accountant
  • – experience in a law firm environment
  • – experience with AJS software
  • – membership of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants will be favourably viewed
